The Royal Government of Cambodia strives to promote economic growth and improve Cambodian people’s livelihoods with an emphasids on rural areas by ensuring independence, peace and political stability.
The Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) is actively involved in developing rural areas with a view to promote rural economic growth thus reducing poverty and narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas in line with the royal government’s third rectangular strategy. In addition, MRD plays a pivotal role in promoting the livelihoods of people in rural areas through rural credit programs, encouraging the creation of small and medium enterprises in rural areas, ensuring market access and establishing linkages between producers and markets.
MRD is strongly committed to continuing to implement its strategic plan and calls on all stakeholers, government ministries and agencies, development partners, national and international organizations, the private sector and rual communities to cooperate and to provide technical and financial support for women’s economic empowerment and for them to be able to participate in decision making in their families, communities and society. Advancing women’s economic empowerment means contributing to making “women’s lives better in their family and community.”
