Sophoan has been with Oxfam for 12 years in various capacities both in Cambodia and other countries in the Asia region. She is a Cambodian who possesses rich international experience and networks. She is also our Gender Justice Lead, and various agencies in Cambodia have sought her consulting services over the past few years. Sophoan's 25 years of solid experience working across public, private and civil society institutions makes her an excellent multi-stakeholder facilitator. Prior to taking on this role, Sophoan managed our multi-country natural resource management programme and engaged with various high-level actors stakeholders across Southeast Asian nations. Like many women of her generation, she was born and raised during wartime, poverty, and in a patriarchal society, experiences that strengthen her commitment to gender and social justice.
"It is an honor and privilege to work for and lead an organization like Oxfam where the organization's mission and values are aligned with my personal ones," said Sophoan. "I have called Oxfam home for the last 12 years and I stand here ready to truly represent Oxfam and further their mission here in Cambodia and globally."
